INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Student Visa

Candidates who are being selected to SIIE KMITL should arrive Thailand with a valid Non – Immigrant Visa. After expiring the initial visa (three months) the student must extend his/her visa for the next year.

  • There will be annual visa extensions in order to keep the student status in Thailand.

  • Those who are unable to extend the visa following the regulations of the Thai immigration will be subjected to the penalty fee as well as permanent expel from the country.

  • Also the student visa holders aren’t allowed to involve in any kind of part time or permanent employment as well as businesses

  • Besides the annual visa extension there is an over-stay notification to the Bangkok Immigration every 90 days. Procedure will be explained in the below sections

Annual Visa Extension Procedure

This annual Visa extension take place first three months after the arrival date before repeats the next year. Therefore Student must aware of the deadline and contact Student affairs office HM 604 a month prior to the visa expiration date.

What you should do

  • You must inform the Student affairs office one month prior to the visa expiration date in order to request a letter of an extension of stay. The process takes around a week.

Requirements

  • Completed Application form T.M.7 – http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/download/form_tm7.pdf
  • Passport and a copy of passport
  • T.M.6 Departure Card
  • 1 Passport Photo (4cm×6cm)
  • Letter of extension of stay from KMITL
  • Educational evidence such as your Student Id card, Transcript or the certificate of admission
  • 1900 THB visa extension fee

Note: A fine of 500THB applied per day if you are unable to complete the visa extension before the deadline

Notification of Staying in Thailand over 90 days

A student who has stayed in Thailand over 90 days must notify his/her Residence to the immigration office every 90 days as follows.

  • A foreigner can make the notification by person before the deadline of 90 days
  • A foreigner can make the notification via online application not less than 15 days before the 90 days deadline. https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do
  • A foreigner can make the notification by Registered Mail at most 15 days before the 90 days deadline.

Documents required for the notifying by person

Documents required for the Registered Mail notification

  • Copy of front page of the passport showing your name, surname and the passport number.
  • Copy of Current Visa.
  • Copy of Last entry Stamp of Immigration.
  • Copy the page of last visa extension.
  • Copy of departure card T.M.6
  • Previous notification of staying over 90 days (if any)
  • Completed T.M.47 application
  • Envelop with 10 BHT stamp affixed and return address of the foreigner in order to receive confirmation of notification. You will receive the lower part of the form T.M.47 as a confirmation by immigration. This part of the form must be kept for the reference as well as for the future notifications.

Re-entry Immigrant permit

If you are planning to spend your holidays outside Thailand must apply a single or multiple – entry permits before your departure. If you are unable to show your re-entry permit when re-entering to Thailand, your current visa will be invalid and will be send to your country to do the visa process from the beginning at Thai Embassy or Consulate outside Thailand.

Thai Re-entry permit offered in two formats

  1. A single entry permit – Costs 1000 THB and allows you to go outside only one time during the year.
  2. Multiple entry permit – Costs 3800 THB allows you to go outside Thailand and return unlimited times during the year.

The Re-entry permit can be obtained in two ways

  1. At the immigration division 1, The Government Complex branch, Chaengwattana Road.
  2. At the passport control number 2 (East) Suvarnabhumi airport on the same day of your departure.

Requirements for the Re-entry permit application at Immigration office

  • Completed T.M.8 form – http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/download/form_tm8.pdf
  • Recently taken one full face photo 3cm×6cm.
  • A copy of the pages containing most recent entry visas.
  • A copy of the page containing the Visa Stamp and “Kingdom of Thailand” Label
  • Copy of the first page of the passport.
  • 1000 THB fee for Single entry visa or 3800THB for multiple entry permits.

Requirements for the Re-entry permit application at Suvarnabhumi Airport

  • Recently taken one full face photo 3cm×6cm.
  • Passport.
  • A copy of the pages containing most recent entry visas.
  • A copy of the page containing the Visa Stamp and “Kingdom of Thailand” Label
  • 1000 THB fee for Single entry visa or 3800THB for multiple entry permits.
